THE ORANGE COUNTY CHAPTER OF THE PROJECT MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE presents...
INTERSECTIONS OF HUMAN AND MACHINE LEARNING
Discuss in breakout rooms. Based on what you've learned so far, do you agree or disagree with these observations:
Humans process images quickly and efficiently.
Machines process numbers quickly and efficiently.
Humans communicate via a shared language.
Machines communicate via protocols such as XML or JSON. Protocols could be considered a very simple language.
Humans schedule communication events called, meetings, by using a calendar.
Machines can schedule communication events using scheduling software similar to a calendar.
Humans chose when to be available to listen.
Machines can listen all the time. A programmer can open a port or publish an API (Application Programming Interface).
Humans retain knowledge while they use it.
Machines retain data while they have electricity. This data can be organized to reflect knowledge.
Humans learn through experience and machines learn through statistical analysis. Both methods have bias:
Humans perceive situations through the lens of their culture.
Machines are agnostic but humans perceive what machines learn through the lens of their culture.
